Company introduction

in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The project’s purpose is to train, educate and cultivate the Macadamia tree/plant. With the technical, seedling and grafting support from this project our company has built two large nurseries in Yen Thuy, HoaBinh province and Krong Nang, DakLak province.

At the moment, our company has 23 varieties of Macadamia, including 10 varieties that are imported from Australia, 5 imported from China, 2 imported from Thailand, 5 imported from Hawaii and 1 is from the Science and Technical Institute of Agriculture and Forestry Highland.

We have had three research trials:

1.       Fivehectares planted in 2007 at Doan Ket village, Yen Thuy, HoaBinh Province

2.       Onehectare planted in Dec 2009 in Dlieyavilaage, Krong Nang, DakLak province

3.       Eighthectares planted in Aug 2011 at the 715B coffee company M’Drak, DakLak province.

4.       42 ha planted Aug 2012 at Krong Nang , Dak Lak province.

5.       100 ha plant in may 2015 at Di Linh, Lam Dong provine.

Since 2005 to 2010, together with the CARD 037/VIE/05 project we have organized six training sessions in Hanoi, Yen Thuy-HoaBinh, Ba Vi-Ha Tay, Buon Ma Thuot, Dlieya - Krong Nang, and Krong Ana – DakLak. In 2011, we also co-organized with the provincial agriculture departments and the Farmer Association to train and introduce the seedling technique for Macadamia tree in Eahleo, C’Munga, Krong Nang – DakLak and Dak Mil – DakNong.

In Aug 2011, we took part in the high-tech agriculture exhibition in GiaNghia – DakNong. We successfully grafted four households, which have grown fourhectares of seedling Macadamias to increase the productivity and quantity of nuts, the success rate was above 90%.

Aug 2011, a Vietnamese television station (VTV1) did a report, Professor Nguyen Lan Hung and professor Hoang Hoe visited our nursery at Krong Nang – DakLak and were part of a report on how to help farmers make a profit. The focus was to advise farmers to choose the best suitable varieties rather than grow large quantities of a few low standard varieties.

We have got a lot of great feedback and praise from the Australian Experts of the CARD 037/VIE/05 project on the nurturing and breeding techniques, as properly applied what we have learnt from the project. We have also been able to adapt and assimilate to our environment, to suit the growing needs of the Macadamia nuts, as well as keeping costs down.

In Feb 2011, 30% of initial 13 month old grafted Macadamia trees/plants have blossomed and flowered and about 80% of those have ripened. To achieve these result, we have learnt the about method of choosing/picking seeded branches from the ‘Long Chau Seed Experimental Station, Guangzhou, China’.

In Feb 2012, 95% of the initial trees/plants have flowered and fruited for the 2nd year and averaged 1kg nuts per tree in our Krong Nang nursery. The tree‘s average height was 4m and 1.8 in diameter. Macadamias tree grow really well because of the great nurture technique by organic fertilizer. Branch trimming techniques were also applied by the Australian Experts to make the balanced canopy for the macadamias tree.

In April 2012, VinaMacca JSC, professor Nguyen Lan Hung and VTV 2 (a television station) “Friends with the farmer”together have done a presentation on introducing the Macadamia tree and how to seed, as well as the ‘nurturingtechnique’. After it was broadcasted on television, May 10-12, there were a lot of farmers that contacted VinaMaccato visit the nursery. There was a lot of interest in growing the nuts and we have given a lot of technical supportto many people.

The Australian professionals emphasized the potentialof growing Macadamia trees in the Highlands of Vietnam where the climate is suitable as well as the basaltic soil comparing to Australia. The size of the Macadamia nut from the initial tree is 15% greater than the same one that grew in Australia, 105nuts/tree in Vietnam and 120nuts/tree in Australia, the human stimulus is quite important too.

VinaMacca JSC is one of the leading companies in Vietnam that is able to provide the best Macadamianut varieties.
